ROLL CALL Present: Absent: Mayor Price, Councilmembers Carson, DeMond, Maggard, Couch, Salvaggio Councilmember Rowles, Sullivan ACTION TAKEN DEPARTMENT BUDGET PRESENTATIONS a. General Government Finance Director Gregory Klimko provided a computer presentation and provided written information; Assistant City Manager Alan Christensen provided an overview and overhead presentation of the Executive Budget for Fiscal Year 1999/2000, and distributed written material; John Meroski, provided an overview of the Convention and Visitors Bureau Budget and distributed written material. Maggard requested staff advise Council of their responsibilities during an emergency. b, Fire Department Fire Chief Ron Fraze provided a brief update, computer presentation and provided wdtten material, and introduced Deputy Chief Gary Hutton, Assistant Chief Kirk Blair and Assistant Chief Robert Tobias who continued the presentation. Police Department Chief Steve Brummer introduced and thanked the Command staff - Assistant Chief Eric Matlock, Captain Dave Jackson, Captain Bill Rector, Captain Nell Mahan and Community Services Specialist Patti Taylor for their assistance in preparation of the budget; provided an overview and written material of accomplishrnents, goals and objectives for 1999/2000 NAT NAT NAT 116 Bakersfield, California, May 17, 1999 - Page 2 DEPARTMENT BUDGET PRESENTATIONS continued DeMond requested staff meet with her to provide an update regarding the eider abuse program the Police Department implements. ACTION TAKEN Couch requested staff provide him with information regarding the demographics of the different age groups. d. Development Services Development Services Director Jack Hardisty introduced Business Manager Melanie Dunwoody, Planning Director Stanley Grady and Assistant Building Director Jack Leonard; and provided a computer presentation and written material. Salvaggio requested staff review the issue of restoring the temporary employee hours to the Building Department. NAT PUBLIC STATEMENTS None. 4.
