Bakers eld area experienced nancial hardship due to the COVID-
19 pandemic. During the pandemic many event venues could not
operate due to health and safety restrictions imposed by health
of cials that resulted in business interruptions and/or business
closures. Those business interruptions and closures led to reduced
visitor spending that rippled through the local economy.
The City has received funds from the American Rescue Plan Act
(ARPA) for response to the COVID-19 public health emergency and
its negative economic impacts. Tourism is a signi cant driver of the
local economy in Bakers eld, and one of the targeted uses of these
funds is to provide nancial assistance to tourism-related event
venues impacted by the pandemic.
Read and download the Request for Proposals (RFP) and grant
application using the green button below. The deadline for
applications is 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22.
