Holiday Grease Collection event
receives more than 100 gallons
The City's annual Holiday Grease
Collection event received 115 gallons from
residents this season, keeping the
potentially troublesome cooking residue
out of our drains. Last year the event collected around 75 gallons.
Pouring used cooking grease and oil can lead to costly and
destructive backups and require expensive repairs as a result.
The City's Wastewater Division collects the grease through drop-off
stations around Bakers eld. From there, it is taken to a third-party
who uses it to create renewable bio diesel fuels.
Pickleball and tennis courts at Jastro Park closed until
March for rehabilitation project
The pickleball and tennis courts at Jastro
Park (2900 Truxtun Avenue) will be closed
temporarily for a court rehabilitation
project which started earlier this week.
The project will include the complete
removal and replacement of the entire
existing pickleball/tennis courts. The
project is expected to last until the end of
March.
We understand these courts are frequently used by the public,
especially by the avid pickleball players. Signs were posted ahead of
time at the court entry gates to let the public know about the
temporary closure. The nearest pickleball/tennis courts available
during the temporary shutdown at Jastro Park are located at Beale
Park (500 Oleander Drive). Other pickleball/tennis courts are

available at Haggin Oaks Park (9100 McInnes Boulevard) and
Campus Park South (8800 District Boulevard).
This $926,793 project is funded by the Public Safety & Vital Services
Measure (PSVS), also known as Measure N.
Some great news for all our pickleballers out there!
The pickleball/tennis courts at Jastro Park will be replaced and repaved!
The more than $925,000 repaving project is expected to go through the
end of March and will require the temporary closure of the courts....
