1. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Bell, Commissioners Resolme, Mizar, Morgan, Kakarla(A),
Toler(A), Beardsley(A)
Absent: Commissioners Burrow, Vargas(A), Taft(A)
2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS
a. Barbara Sandrini, from the Assistance League spoke about the
organization and their mission.
b. Sammy Cortez, CSUB
3. SUMMARY REPORT
a. Adoption of the January 24, 2022, Youth Commission minutes
Staff recommends adoption of the January 24, 2022, Youth Commission
Minutes
Motion by Commissioner Toler, second by Commissioner Resolme to
approve the minutes from the January 24, 2022, meeting. Motion passes
unanimously: 6-0.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Group presentations by Youth Commissioners for projects under
consideration for FY 2021-2022.
Staff recommends youth commissioners present project ideas to be
considered for the final Youth Commission project for FY 2021-2022
Commissioner Toler gave her presentation entitled Youth Engagement.
b. Discussion and vote on the annual Youth Commission project to be
completed no later than June 30, 2022.
Staff recommends Youth Commission vote for the annual Youth Commission
project for FY 2021-2022

4. NEW BUSINESS continued
Commissioners discussed the items that were common in each presentation.
Nathan suggested partnering with an organization and checking to see
whatthey might need help.
Ashley informed the commissioners that after a date is set and all the plans
are complete, the event would have to be noted as a special meeting that
was being help a location other than city hall.
Nathan suggested inviting Joseph Conroy to speak the group regarding
advertising the event.
Motion by Commissioner Toler, second by Commissioner Morgan
that the Youth Commission's annual event be a community "drive by"
donation drive, to collect new clothing items, shoes, toys and hygiene
supplies for children kindergarten through eighth grade, to be given to the
Assistance League of Bakersfield. Motion passes unanimously.
C. Begin planning the final annual Youth Commission project for FY 2021-2022
to be completed no later than June 30, 2022
Staff recommends the Youth Commission begin planning the annual project
for FY 2021-2022 as determined by the final vote of the Commission
Other items of discussion:
• Date and location of event.
• Advertising
• Collecting donations (if necessary)
• Storage needs (if any)
5. STAFF COMMENTS
Nathan stated that he was pleased that so much was accomplished, and that the
other items of discussion could be finalized. He thanked Mrs. Sandrini for coming
and speaking to Commissioners
6. COMMISSION COMMENTS
Chair Bell stated she was happy they had gotten to this point and thanked the
assistance of the league and looking forward to seeing what this event had to
offer. She also thanked Mrs. Sandrini for coming to the meeting.
Chair Bell asked to have Joseph Conway come to a meeting to discuss
advertising.
