1. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Bell, Commissioners Resolme, Mizar, Taft, Toler, Beardsley,
Kakarla
Absent: Commissioners Burrows, Morgan, Vargas

3. SUMMARY REPORT
a. Adoption of the February 28, 2022, Youth Commission minutes
Staff recommends adoption of the February 28, 2022, Youth
Commission Minutes.
Motion by Commissioner Jordyn Toler, second by Commissioner
Sophia Resolme to adopt the February 28, 2022, Youth Commission
meeting minutes. Motion passed.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Continue planning the annual Youth Commission project for FY 2021-
2022 to be completed no later than June 30, 2022.
Staff recommends the Youth Commission continue planning the
annual project in coordination with the Assistance League of
Bakersfield.
The Commissioners have tentatively agreed to have the donation
drive on June 4, at the Assistance League's Bargain Box located at
1924 Q Street, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Public Information Officer, Conroy recommended the following:
putting together a 15 second Public Service Announcement for local
radio stations to read on air; design a digital flyer to post on social media
(Instagram, Twitter, Facebook); contact the Bakersfield Californian
regarding donated ad space, contact the local TV stations interested in
doing a story on the donation drive to run a few days before the actual
event.
Nathan also suggested reaching out to all area high schools to request the
Public Service Announcement be added to the morning announcements.
The Commissioners agreed to work in teams of two, to complete the
following: Commissioners Sanjna Mizar and Carter Beardsley will develop a
script for the radio stations, Commissioners Jordyn Toler and Aditya Kakarla
will contact the local TV stations, Chair Emily Bell, and Commissioner
Sophia Resolme will develop the digital flyer to send to social media and to
post at local high schools.
Management Assistant Gutierrez reminded the commissioners that they
need to decide how to document the evert for a presentation at the June
City Council meeting. He also reminded Commissioners to start thinking
about who to invite to the event either as a guest or as a volunteer.

6. COMMISSION COMMENTS
Chair Bell reminded the Commissioners they need to check their email daily.
She stated they will be meeting again before the next regular meeting time.
