ROLL CALL Present: Chair Bell, Commissioners Vargas (A), Garcia, Taft (A), Toler (A), Beardsley (A), Absent: Commissioners Resolme, Burrow, Mizar, Morgan, Kakarla 2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS None. 3. SUMMARY REPORT a. Adoption of the April 18, 2022, Youth Commission minutes. Staff recommends adoption of the April 18, 2022, Youth Commission minutes. b. Adoption of the March 28, 2022, Youth Commission minutes. Staff recommends adoption of the March 28, 2022, Youth Commission minutes. Motion by Commissioner Beardsley, second by Commissioner Toler to approve the March 28, 2022, Youth Commission minutes. Motion fails: 4-0-7, with Commissioner Taff abstaining. 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Presentation by Juan Heredia, Administrative Analyst III on the City of the Bakersfield Youth Workforce Development Program. Staff recommends receipt and file of the presentation b. Continue planning the annual Youth Commission project for FY 2021-22 to be completed no later than June 30, 2022. Staff recommends the Youth Commission continue planning the annual project in coordination with the Assistance League of Bakersfield. [Type here] Bakersfield California, April 25, 1022, Page 2 4. NEW BUSINESS continued Chair Bell and Commissioner Resolme completed the flyer and stated that each school could add their drop off location and other information specific to each school. Commissioner Toler and contacted Channel 29 and Channel 23 is waiting for someone to get back to her. Commissioner Kakarla contacted the Bakersfield Californian and is also waiting for a call back. Commissioners Mizar and Beardsley completed the 15 second PSA. They also reached out to the local radio stations and have not heard back from anyone. 5. STAFF COMMENTS Management Assistant Gutierrez reminded the Commissioners that if they need any assistance to let him know. City Deputy Attorney Gallardo-King recognized student guests there to observe the meeting: Sabastian Mendez, Edgar Jimenez, and Fabian Ortega. 6. COMMISSION COMMENTS Commissioner Vargas stated her school needs more information regarding the donation drive to put a collection box at her school. Commissioner Mizar stated that her school (Stockdale) said yes. Commissioner Toler stated she has someone to take a video and pictures the day of the event. Chair Bell suggested just asking the school you attend to put a collection box. 7. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:58 p.m.
