ROLL CALL Members Present: Chair Bell, Commissioners Taft, Burrow Members Absent: Commissioners Vargas, Garcia, Resolme, Toler, Mizar, Beardsley, Morgan, Kakarla 2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS Jeannie Young, President of the Assistance League thanked the Youth Commissioners for their work putting together the donation drive that was held on June 4, 2022. She stated they had a good turn-out and thanked the Commissioners again. 3. SUMMARY REPORT a. Adoption of the May 23, 2022, Youth Commission Minutes. Staff recommends adoption of the May 23, 2022, Youth Commission Minutes. Due to lack of quorum, no action taken. 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Presentation by Mayor Karen Goh recognizing Commissioners Braeden Burrow (Ward 3) and Isaac Morgan (Ward 5) for their service to the City of Bakersfield Youth Commission. b. Presentation by Walter Villa, Administrative Analyst in the Recreation and Parks Department regarding the City of Bakersfield Parks Master Plan survey. Staff recommends receive and file of the presentation. Administrative Analyst Villa made staff comments and gave a PowerPoint presentation. C. Report on the outcome of the Youth Commission Donation Drive in collaboration with the Assistance League of Bakersfield for FY 2021-2022. Staff recommends receive and file the report. Bakersfield, California, June 27, 2022- Page 2 4. NEW BUSINESS continued Chair Bell stated that the donation drive was successful; they took in lot of donations. She thanked the Assistance League for their collaboration on this evert. Assistant League President Young said that they appreciated how helpful and professional the Commissioners were during the drive. She asked the Commissioners to spread the word regarding the Assistant League's Bargain Box. Management Assistant Gutierrez asked the Assistance League to get back to him on many items were donated and how many Jeannie Young stated she would get that information to the Commissioners. 5. STAFF COMMENTS Management Assistant Gutierrez thanked the Commissioners for their hard work. He also congratulated the Commissioners on a successful donation drive. He thanked Commissioner Burrow for his service and Mayor Goh for recognizing him. He reminded the Commissioners that the next meeting will be in August. He is working on meeting with the new members to go over the Brown Act to bring them up to speed. Management Assistant Gutierrez thanked Mayor Goh, Public Information officer Conroy and Communications Coordinator Galvan, who were in attendance, for the support and assistance they provided to the Commissioners. 6. COMMISSION COMMENTS Chair Bell thanked the Commissioners for their hard work and all the staff that helped the Commission with their event. She stated that is was good being able to interact with the community again. She is looking forward to next year. Commissioner Burrow thanked the staff for dedicating their time and attention to the Commission and for the opportunity to experience City Government. Commissioner Taft also thanked the staff for all their help this past year. He stated he appreciated the opportunity to see how the city runs and he is looking forward to next year. 7. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:29 p.m.
