1. ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Bell, Garcia, Tarango (A), Resolme, Taft (A), Beardsley,
Kakarla, Brar (A), Webster, Batth, Tran (A)
Commissioners Absent: Vargas (A)
2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS
a. Agenda Item Public Statements. -None.
b. Non-Agenda Item Public Statements. -None.
3. SUMMARY REPORT
a. Adoption of the August 19, 2022, Youth Commission Minutes
Motion to approve Minutes from August 79, 2022, meeting by Commissioner
Bell, second by Commissioner Beardsley. Motion Passed unanimously.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Nomination and election of Youth Commission Chair and Co-Chair
Commissioner Bell and Commissioner Resolme were nominated to serve as
Chair for the 2022-2023 Youth Commission.
Vote by ballot. Commissioner Bell was elected as Chair by a majority vote
of six of seven eligible votes.
Commissioner Resolme, Commissioner Kakarla, and Commissioner Batth
were nominated for Co-Chair for the 2022-2023 Youth Commission.
Vote by ballot. Commissioner Resolme was elected as Co-Chair by a
majority vote of five of the seven eligible votes.
b. Youth Commission annual project review and discussion.
The Commissioners discussed several options for the Youth Commission
project including:
4. New Business continued
Partnering with JJ's Legacy to promote organ donation.
Educating students on workforce and vocational training alternatives for
students who do not pursue a college education.
Promoting community opportunities of arts and sports programs for junior
high school students.
Providing students with resources regarding mental health and other
challenges students encounter.
Promoting driver safety for student drivers.
5. STAFF COMMENTS
Management Assistant Gutierrez reminded the Commissioners to notify him in
advance if they are unable to attend a meeting.
Attorney Villanueva informed the Commissioners of the Mothers Against Drunk
Driving event taking place at River Walk park.
6. COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Beardsley stated that there is a student leadership program
available through JJ's Legacy, anyone who is interested can contact him.
Chair Bell requested the meeting calendar to be brought back by staff at the next
meeting to discuss moving the meeting to an earlier time.
7. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:35p.m.
