1. ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Bell, Tarango (seated at 4:44 p.m.), Resolme, Simpson,
Pursel (A), Beardsley, Webster, Batth, Tran (A) (seated
at 4:39 p.m.),
Commissioners Absent: Vargas (A), Taft (A), Kakarla, H. Brar (A), Nahama (A)

3. SUMMARY REPORT
a. Adoption of the February 27, 2023 Youth Commission minutes
Motion to adopt the minutes from the February 27 Youth Commission
Meeting by Commissioner Beardsley, seconded by Commissioner
Webster. Motion passed unanimously.
b. Adoption of the January 30, 2023 Special Youth Commission minutes
Motion to adopt the minutes from the January 30 Special Youth
Commission Meeting by Commissioner Resolme, seconded by
Commissioner Batth. Motion passed unanimously.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Presentation by Ray Scott of the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee
regarding the 2023 Great American Cleanup, including the Mayor's High
School Challenge on Saturday, April 22, 2023
4. NEW BUSINESS continued
Ray Scott gave a presentation on the Great American Cleanup and the
Mayor's High School Challenge and invited the Commissioners to
participate, and to get the word out to their high schools.
He also gave a presentation on Keep California Beautiful. He invited the
Commissioners to volunteer for their watershed stewardship-citizen
science project.
a. Recap of the 2023 Youth Commission donation drive at the Haggin Oaks
Farmers Market in collaboration with the Applecore Project, Inc.
Commissioner Pursel gave a report of the 2023 Youth Commission
donation drive. She said that Jaclyn Allen from Applecore invited the
Commissioners to help hand out the items collected from the donation
drive.
Motion to receive and file report by Commissioner Beardsley seconded by
Commissioner Tran. Motion passed unanimously.
b. Discussion regarding the development of a video to promote youth
engagement in the community and recruit interested high school students
to serve on the Youth Commission for the 2023-2024 school year.
Commissioner Bell asked that this item be included on the agenda for
discussion at the next meeting.
5. STAFF COMMENTS
Management Assistant Gutierrez made staff comments.
Deputy City Attorney Villanueva made staff comments.
6. COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Bell asked to agendize the Keep California Beautiful project for
discussion at the next meeting.
7. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.
