HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 020-2024RESOLUTION NO. 0 2 0- 2 0 2 4 AUTHORIZATION TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR AND ADMINSTER THE ZERO -EMISSION LANDSCAPING EQUIPMENT (ZELE) VOUCHER PROGRAM THROUGH THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AIR POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT RECITALS WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield's Public Works Fleet Services Division makes an effort to purchase alternative fuel vehicles and equipment when considering units for replacement; and WHEREAS, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) is currently offering a Zero -Emission Landscaping Equipment (ZELE) Voucher Program to public agencies and businesses, whereby funding is available to replace gas -powered landscape equipment with electric options; and WHEREAS, public agencies may be eligible to receive up to 100% of the cost of eligible equipment; and WHEREAS, City staff has identified a variety of landscaping equipment which meets the eligibility criteria for the grant; and WHEREAS, the City must authorize by resolution an "Authorized Individual" to apply for and administer the ZELE Voucher Program through the SJVAPCD in order to receive funding; and WHEREAS, the City Council therefore desires to authorize the Public Works Director or his or her designee to apply for and administer the ZELE Voucher Program through the SJVAPCD. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The City Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby authorizes the Public Works Director or his or her designee to make application for, execute required assurances, and to administer the Zero -Emission Landscaping Equipment (ZELE) Voucher Program through the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District with respect to available Local, State, and Federal funding, programs, and/or grants. 3.
