STAFF RECOMMENDATION: BACKGROUND: (03 BAKERSFIELD ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT THE SOUND OF yaov04Gf e 0 MEETING DATE: 5/24/2021 4. a. TO: Bakersfield Youth Commission FROM: Nathan Gutierrez CREATED BY: Nathan Gutierrez DATE: 5/5/2021 WARD: SUBJECT: Film Youth Commission PSA project STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Youth Commission complete the filming of the Public Service Announcement regarding the dangers of teen vaping. BACKGROUND: Each year the City of Bakersfield Youth Commission is tasked with developing a youth-focused message on a relevant topic that impacts local teens. For FY 2020-2021, the Youth Commission voted on a project to develop a Public Service Announcement regarding the dangers of teen vaping. Technical guidance regarding local statistics and law enforcement policies was provided by the Kern County Public Health Department and Bakersfield Police Department, respectively. The final PSA is a culmination of several meetings, discussions, planning and filming of the project, with assistance from City staff. It is the goal of the Youth Commission to have the PSA air on the three major television stations, posted on the City of Bakersfield Youth Commission page, and on applicable City social media platforms.
