HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 033-2024RESOLUTION NO. 033-2024 A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY UNIFORMS CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $162,000 WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) operates the Junior Police Academy (JPA); and WHEREAS, the BPD requires the JPA participants to wear uniforms to teach accountability and attention to self-discipline; and WHEREAS, All American Uniforms has been the sole source provider for the JPA uniforms for over 4 years; and WHEREAS, All American uniforms offers competitive pricing, convenient fitting services for participants and their families, they have all the required patches and accessories required for the JPA uniform, and their ability to fill orders in a timely manner; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined and has recommended City Council find, that the purchase of JPA uniforms can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor, All American Uniforms, LLC., because of the manufacturer's designation and has recommended that Council authorize the finance director to dispense with bidding requirements in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference. 2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of junior police academy uniforms, to be used exclusively by the Bakersfield Police Department, can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor, All American Uniforms, LLC., for the reasons set forth above. - Page 1 of 2 Pages - p�OAK�u ti fn 'ORIGINAI 3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding therefore in accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code and to negotiate the purchase of same as needed, for a total not to exceed amount of $162,000.
