"Our revenue sources are pretty stable. They're not quite like
business revenue sources. Our property taxes are very stable if you
look over 20-30 year periods. And so we're fortunate we're seeing a
typical modest increase in property tax revenues expected in this
next year," Clegg said.
Along with local business leaders, on hand for the session were Ward
1 Councilmember Eric Arias, Assistant City Manager Gary Hallen,
Development Services Director Chris Boyle, Economic & Community
Development Director Jenny Byers and Communications &
Marketing Manager Megan Simpson.

Blue Zones walking bus route
This week the City's partners at Blue Zones Project Bakers eld
continued their efforts to help local students get to school safely and
on time.
Celebrating National Walking Day on Wednesday, members of Blue
Zones and volunteers gathered at Mt. Vernon Elementary to launch
its rst Walking School Bus, going through nearby neighborhoods
and walking students to school.
"You see all the students being greeted by Mt. Vernon cheerleaders,
the Mt. Vernon color guard, and the Mt. Vernon teachers, so what
that's doing is creating a sense of community right here in East
Bakers eld," said Jonathan Gallardo, Blue Zones Bakers eld Schools
Lead. "We're encouraging our students to walk, students are super
excited... It's little changes in our daily environment like this that are
going to ultimately help lead to more successful environments in
schools."
