The Fire Department Civil Service Regular Meeting commenced on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Fire Station # 1. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Thomas Edmonds, Vice Chair Mike George, Commissioner Administrative Staff Present: John Frando, Fire Chief Shayla Woods -Collins, Human Resources Manager Julie Houselog, Human Resources Specialist Joshua Rudnick, Deputy City Attorney Tanya Wilson, Human Resources Analyst 2. Approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 11, 2023 of the Bakersfield Fire Department Civil Service Board. Upon a motion by Commissioner George, seconded by Commissioner Edmonds, to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 11, 2023 of the Fire Department Civil Service Board. APPROVED, ALL AYES. 4. Elections of Officers A motion was made by Commissioner George to approve the election of Commission Edmonds as Chair for the 2024 Fire Civil Service Board. APPROVED, ALL AYES A motion was made by Commissioner Edmonds to approve the election of Commissioner George as Vice Chair for the 2024 Fire Civil Service Board. APPROVED, ALL AYes 5. New Business A. Request to Open Exam, Fire Captain (Promotional) #02009 After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner George seconded by Commissioner Edmonds to approve staff recommendation, and approve the request to open exam, Fire Captain (P) #02009. APPROVED, ALL AYES. 5. Commissioner Statements The Commissioners thanked Human Resources and Fire Staff for their recruitment efforts. 6. Board continued the approval of the January 8, 2024 minutes until next meeting. 4. New Business A. REQUEST TO OPEN FIRE ENGINEER (PROMOTIONAL) EXAMINATION #02100 After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Burton seconded by Commissioner George to approve staff recommendation and approve Request to open Fire Engineer (Promotional) Examination #02100. APPROVED, ALL AYES. 5. Commissioner Statements The Board welcomed Commissioner Burton to the Fire Civil Service Commission. The Commissioners thanked Human Resources and Fire Staff for fast and efficient meetings. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Board, Chair Thomas Edmonds adjourned the meeting at 3:05 p.m.
