City water customers continue to reduce usage
The City's Water Resources Department reports that for the 11th
time in the last 12 months, Domestic Water System customers have
reduced their water use, this time recording savings of 30% per
capita in March of this year compared to the same month in 2020.
That 30% savings is the highest rate in the last 12 months. April 2022
was the second-highest with 23% savings compared to 2020. Out of
the last 12 months, only usage in January 2024 exceeded the same
period's in 2020 (5% increase).

This past March saw customers use an average of 82.98 gallons per
capita. In March 2020 - a month that had just one day of rain -
customers used 119.23 gallons per capita.
In December 2021, the City and its Water Resources Department
issued mandatory water restrictions for all City of Bakers eld
Domestic Water System customers. Those restrictions, which
include not watering lawns 48 hours during and after a rain event,
remain in place. This past March, just two notices were issued by the
Water Resources Department to customers for violating that
restriction.
