Donation helps Bakers eld Fire keep community safe
On a daily basis members of the Bakers eld Fire Department are
working to keep the community safe and thanks to a recent donation
they'll be able to help more people.
Recently, Firehouse Subs donated nearly $50,000 to Bakers eld
Fire, which was able to purchase 14 automated external
de brillators (AEDs).

On Thursday, members of Bakers eld Fire gathered at Firehouse
Subs on California Avenue for a ceremony to commemorate the
donation and the purchase of the AEDs.
Adopt-a-Park program continues to grow with more
adopters
Our Recreation & Parks Department's Adopt-a-Park program
continues to see more organizations sign up to take part in the
program.
Launched in earnest in 2023, the program has seen more than 15
parks get adopted.
This week, two more organizations adopted parks through the
program, as Beach Park and Haggin Oaks parks were each adopted.

Rec. & Parks provides more cooling options with spray
parks
City's spray parks are open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, Tuesday through Sunday
through Labor Day on Sept. 2.
Swim lesson registration ongoing at City pools
Registration for Session 3 of Recreation & Parks' swim lessons is now
underway.
Sessions are being held at at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Jefferson and
Silver Creek pools and at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center.
Registration dates will stagger every two weeks to allow the public
multiple opportunities to register. There is four sessions offered this
summer.

Traf c Advisories
Temporarily closure set for parts of
Kern River Parkway bike path
Parts of the Kern River Parkway multi-use
trail will be temporarily closed Tuesday,
June 18 for tree trimming.
From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., crews will be
performing maintenance along the path

between Calloway Road and Stockdale
Highway, behind The Park at River Walk.
The work is expected to be completed the same day. Signage alerting
riders of the closure will be posted in the area. The closed portion of
the path is expected to re-open the same evening.
Pavement rehab project scheduled for Buena Vista
Road
A pavement rehabilitation project on Buena Vista Road will impact
traf c beginning Monday, June 17.
The project on Buena Vista will stretch from White Lane to
Stockdale Highway.
Traf c impacts are expected from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday during the project, which is anticipated to be
completed by Friday, Aug. 9.
Crews will reconstruct Buena Vista Road, including removing the
existing asphalt and repaving the roadway; installing thermoplastic
and green methyl methacrylate striping and lane markings; sidewalk
access ramps at intersections compliant with current Americans
with Disabilities Act standards; the adjustment of existing manholes
and water valves; the construction of new median nose and drainage
cuts; and the adjustment of monument encasements.
Lane reductions and closures are expected during this project and
drivers are advised to use alternate routes, or to plan for additional
travel time through the impacted area.
