City of ces closed for
Independence Day holiday
The City of Bakers eld's administrative
of ces, including City Hall North (1600
Truxtun Avenue) will be closed on
Thursday, July 4 for the Independence Day
holiday.
The of ces will re-open at 8 a.m. as normal
on Friday, July 5.

As a result of the holiday closure, curbside trash and recycling
services will delayed by one day.
Notable Items
Enjoy a free reworks show Independence Day at River
Walk!
Just a reminder, the City will be hosting its
annual free reworks show this
Independence Day at the Park at River
Walk.
DJ Pantomime will get things going with
free music in the Dignity Health
Amphitheater starting at 6 p.m.
The reworks show, which will be
produced by Zambelli Fireworks, is
scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
This year a beer garden will be set up in the
park just east of the Dignity Health
Amphitheatre. No outside alcoholic
beverages will be permitted in the park, as
per park rules. Alcohol may be purchased and consumed only in the
beer garden. Cold water and other beverages will also be available at
the beer garden.
Traf c closures in the area are set to begin at 8 p.m.
Traf c closures are as follows:
The westbound lanes of Stockdale Highway will be closed at
Calloway Drive and Old River Road.

The right turn lane on southbound Calloway Drive and the left
turn lanes on northbound Old River Road will also be closed.
Drivers will be permitted to turn left onto southbound Old
River Road or right onto northbound Calloway Drive.
The eastbound lanes of Stockdale Highway will be closed at
Jewetta Avenue (near Aera Park).
The left turn lanes on southbound Jewetta will also be closed.
Drivers will be permitted to turn north onto Jewetta from
eastbound Stockdale Highway.
The northbound lanes of Buena Vista Road will be closed at River
Run Boulevard.
Drivers will be permitted to turn east or west onto River Run
Boulevard from Buena Vista Road.
The left turn lanes from River Run Boulevard onto Buena Vista
Road will be closed. Traf c will be allowed to travel eastbound on
Stockdale Highway from River Run Boulevard. o
The intersection of River Park Way and Stockdale Highway will be
closed.
Access to the Village at River Oaks shopping center will also be
limited during this time.
The west exit from the Shops at River Walk shopping center will
be closed during the event. Drivers should leave the shopping
center at any of the other exits to Stockdale Highway or Calloway
Drive.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible, or to plan for delays.

The Bakers eld Police Department will soon have more resources to
help keep our City safe as members of the latest academy took their
oath during their graduation ceremony.
During Thursday's ceremony at Bakers eld First Assembly of God,
19 members of Class 24-01 were recognized as the 32nd Peace
Of cers Basic Academy class.

During the ceremony, awards were given for academics, defensive
tactics, marksmanship, physical tness and top overall achievement.
