Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 Notable Items Youth Jobs Program Fellowship application deadline extended Any youth looking to get their foot in the door with local government or want to begin a career in civil service should consider applying for the Bakerseld Youth Jobs Program. The deadline to apply for the program has been extended to Aug. 23, 2024.  The program is open to youth ages 18 to 30 years old. Individuals selected will work in one of a number of City departments and earn $25 an hour. APPLY! National Ski Championships taking place locally! The most recent event on Aug. 10 saw nearly 15,000 pounds of trash collected along with more than 4,000 pounds of metal. About 150 vehicles dropped off 960 pounds of recycling, 57 mattresses and 25 tires. For the year, nearly 125,000 pounds of trash have been collected at the free Bulky Item Drop-off events. The next event is tentatively scheduled to take place next month, but is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Share your ideas as City plans next 25 years! The City is planning for the future of Bakerseld and needs YOU to help! As part of the 2045 General Plan Update, the City's Development Services Department will be hosting multiple workshops in August. The Policy 101 Workshop will allow you to participate in hands on activities like policy design sprints and role-play challenges and provide your input on key topics affecting our community. GET Bus has launched a community survey geared towards people who have not used its services. The survey is designed to gather insights and suggestions on how GET bus can encourage more people to use public transit effectively. The survey can be found at http://get2024survey.com or through the QR code and in the yer below.
