NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Planning Commission of the City of Bakersfield will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m., or as
soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2024, in the Council
Chambers of City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA, to consider the following:
General Plan Amendment/Zone Change No. 23-0330 (Ward 5). Swanson Engineering, Inc.
(applicant, on behalf of Leah Volkoff (property owner), is proposing a General Plan
Amendment (GPA) and Zone Change (ZC) on approximately 6.18 acres generally located
on the northwest corner of Rosedale Highway and Sablewood Drive. The request includes:
( 1) an amendment of the Land Use Element of the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan
land use designation from OC (Office Commercial) to HR (High Density Residential); and (2)
a change in zone classification from C-O/PCD (Commercial Office/ Planned Commercial
Development) to R-3 (Multiple-Family Dwelling). A Mitigated Negative Declaration will also
be considered.
All written comments must be received by the Bakersfield Planning Department, 1715 Chester
Avenue, Bakersfield; 661-326-3733 on or before the public hearing date/time indicated above.
You may review and/or obtain copies of all public documents at the Planning Department. If
you challenge the action taken on a specific project in court, you may be limited to addressing
only those issues raised at the public hearing or in written correspondence delivered to the City
of Bakersfield.
