November 14, 2024 Notable Items Bakerseld Police launches new public crime dashboard The Bakerseld Police Department has launched a new Community Crime Dashboard, providing the public the ability to search historical crime data throughout the City. This public dashboard provides the ability to lter the information by crime type, location, and timeframe, with the information being updated regularly and based solely on the crimes reported to the Bakerseld Police Department within the city’s jurisdiction. The Bakerseld Police Department Community Crime Dashboard is located on the Bakerseld Police Department website in the Statistics & Data section and is available as of Nov. 13, 2024. Community Crime Dashboard Bakerseld Police awarded $490k state safety grant The Bakerseld Police Department has been awarded nearly $500,000 in state funding to help increase road safety. The California Ofce of Trafc Safety awarded BPD $490,000, which will support the department's ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on City streets. BPD honors City veterans with free lunch City employees who served in the military were treated this week to a free lunch thanks to the Bakerseld Police Department's command staff and the Bakerseld Police Ofcers Association. Just days after Veterans Day on Wednesday, BPD provided lunch that was catered by Salty's BBQ with dessert from Dewar's. City employees who served in all branches of the military lined up for the lunch, served at BPD headquarters in Downtown Bakerseld. Representatives from Amazon BFL1 and Rec. & Parks held a small ceremony Wednesday at Quailwood to commemorate the six-month mark as park adopters. Through the Adopt-A-Park program, adopters receive an ofcial sign after participating for six months. Groups that adopt parks typically organize cleanups and help maintain the park for the community. More than a dozen local community groups have now adopted parks within the City! Check out the City's interactive map to nd out which parks are still available to be adopted. Adopt-A-Park! Bakerseld Fireghters deployed to help battle Mountain Fire The Bakerseld Fire Department continues to help battle incidents throughout California. 11/21/24, 4:27 PM Bakersfield Notes 11.14.2024 https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/d739f5b183bf48a488f736b6233268ea/print 4/12 Ten members of Bakerseld Fire, along with three engines, are currently in Ventura County helping battle the Mountain Fire. Members of Bakerseld Fire, assigned to California Operation of Emergency Services Engine 412, are currently helping in the cleanup process, assisting homeowners sift through debris. Bakerseld Fire is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at any of its City re stations through Dec. 6. Help a child in need by making a donation! Locate A Fire Station Facebook Deadline looming for Community Land Trust Board applications The deadline is approaching for individuals interested in applying to be part of the Bakerseld Community Land Trust Board of Directors. The mission of the Community Land Trust is to create housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families in Bakerseld. Rec. & Parks looking for new bike shop instructor for afterschool program The City's Recreation & Parks Department is looking for a new instructor to help lead the Build-A-Bike Program at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. The program, rst introduced in 2007, allows students to take home a refurbished bike after working in the MLK Community Center bike shop. It is a free program for students with used bikes being donated by the Bakerseld Police Department and members of the community. Anyone interested can contact the MLK Community Center at 661- 322-9874.
