Bakers eld Police launches new public crime dashboard
The Bakers eld Police Department has launched a new Community
Crime Dashboard, providing the public the ability to search historical
crime data throughout the City.
This public dashboard provides the ability to lter the information by
crime type, location, and timeframe, with the information being
updated regularly and based solely on the crimes reported to the
Bakers eld Police Department within the city’s jurisdiction.

The City and Bakers eld Police Department hope this tool serves as
a resource for community members to be better informed about
what is happening in their neighborhoods.
The Bakers eld Police Department Community Crime Dashboard is
located on the Bakers eld Police Department website in the
Statistics & Data section and is available as of Nov. 13, 2024.

Bakers eld Police awarded $490k state safety grant
The Bakers eld Police Department has been awarded nearly
$500,000 in state funding to help increase road safety.
The California Of ce of Traf c Safety awarded BPD $490,000, which
will support the department's ongoing enforcement and education
programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths
on City streets.
The grant program will run through September 2025.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California
Of ce of Traf c Safety, through the National Highway Traf c Safety
Administration.
BPD honors City veterans with free lunch
City employees who served in the military were treated this week to
a free lunch thanks to the Bakers eld Police Department's command
staff and the Bakers eld Police Of cers Association.
Just days after Veterans Day on Wednesday, BPD provided lunch
that was catered by Salty's BBQ with dessert from Dewar's.
City employees who served in all branches of the military lined up for
the lunch, served at BPD headquarters in Downtown Bakers eld.
Amazon BFL1 gets of cial sign as Quailwood Park
adopters
Six months after signing up to participate in the Recreation & Parks
Department's Adopt-A-Park program, Amazon BFL1 is now the

of cial adopter of Quailwood Park.
Representatives from Amazon BFL1 and Rec. & Parks held a small
ceremony Wednesday at Quailwood to commemorate the six-month
mark as park adopters.
Through the Adopt-A-Park program, adopters receive an of cial sign
after participating for six months.
Groups that adopt parks typically organize cleanups and help
maintain the park for the community.
More than a dozen local community groups have now adopted parks
within the City!

Bakers eld Fire ghters deployed to help battle
Mountain Fire
The Bakers eld Fire Department continues to help battle incidents
throughout California.

Ten members of Bakers eld Fire, along with three engines, are
currently in Ventura County helping battle the Mountain Fire.
Members of Bakers eld Fire, assigned to California Operation of
Emergency Services Engine 412, are currently helping in the cleanup
process, assisting homeowners sift through debris.
The Mountain Fire has burned more than 20,000 acres and is 82%
contained, as of Nov. 14.

Bakers eld Fire accepting donations for Toys for Tots
The holiday season is upon us and the Bakers eld Fire Department is
doing its part to help those in need as it participates in this year's
Toys for Tots.
Bakers eld Fire is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at
any of its City re stations through Dec. 6.

Deadline looming for Community Land Trust Board
applications
The deadline is approaching for individuals interested in applying to
be part of the Bakers eld Community Land Trust Board of Directors.
The mission of the Community Land Trust is to create housing
opportunities for low- and moderate-income families in Bakers eld.
It also aims to support and steward these families by ensuring that
homes remain affordable in perpetuity.

Rec. & Parks looking for new bike
shop instructor for afterschool
program
The City's Recreation & Parks Department
is looking for a new instructor to help lead
the Build-A-Bike Program at the Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Community Center.
The program, rst introduced in 2007,
allows students to take home a refurbished
bike after working in the MLK Community Center bike shop. It is a
free program for students with used bikes being donated by the
Bakers eld Police Department and members of the community.
Anyone interested can contact the MLK Community Center at 661-
322-9874.
Joe O'Grady (right), the long-time bike shop
instructor of the Recreation & Parks
Department's Build-A-Bike program has retired,
leaving a void to be lled by someone passionate
about helping students learn the ins and outs of
bikes.
