November 7, 2024 City's administrative ofces closed in observance of Veterans Day The City of Bakerseld's administrative ofces, including City Hall North (1600 Truxtun Ave.), will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. City ofces will re-open Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 8 a.m. Trash and recycling services will not be impacted by the closure. A civics eld trip to City Hall on Nov. 6, students got to hear from and meet Mayor Karen Goh, City Manager Christian Clegg and other City staff, learning the ins and outs of our government. Students met with representatives from a number of departments, including the Bakerseld Police Department and Bakerseld Fire Department. Located at the corner of Linnell Way and Brahma Street, the ve acre park is now the 65th park maintained by the City. The park cost $5.5 million with more than $3 million coming from the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant (Prop 68). The program, rst introduced in 2007, allows students to take home a refurbished bike after working in the MLK Community Center bike shop. It is a free program for students with used bikes being donated by the Bakerseld Police Department and members of the community. Anyone interested can contact the MLK Community Center at 661- 322-9874.
