OPPORTUNITY LENDER
VCCDC, in partnership with the City of Bakersfield, is dedicated to assisting local working families
in achieving homeownership through the Hope to Home Down Payment Assistance Program.
PROGRAM FEATURES
• Up to $40,000 for eligible households
• Apply towards down payment, closing costs, subsidize interest rates and
mortgage insurance premiums
• 2% annual deferred interest
• Payments are deferred for 30 years (i.e. full loan balance due in 30 years)
• Qualified applicants may use the funding towards the purchase of an
attached or detached single-family property within Bakersfield city limits
• Can be combined with VCCDC's other programs to maximize purchasing
power
BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Be a first-time homebuyer (not owned a home in the past three years)
• Buying a home within Bakersfield city limits
• Qualify as a low-income household - up to 80% Area Median Income (AMI) - see chart
• Complete a City -approved first-time homebuyer education class
• Have the ability to be pre -approved for a fixed-rate first mortgage loan
• $5,000 minimum contribution towards the purchase
• Other criteria and requirements will apply
