On Wednesday, the Bakerseld Police Department's Impact Team, along with the City's Code Enforcement and Kern County Mental Health, cleared 11 encampments in the area of V & U streets. 3/14/25, 9:26 AM Bakersfield Notes 02.27.2025 https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/55faa2611838459880f53e4b1b94082e/print 2/12 The encampment was identied during the staff street walk on Feb. 4 where members of BPD and City leaders walked the neighborhood, identifying environmental factors that ultimately lead to crime. Residents near the encampment site identied as a source of drug and criminal activity. The award highlighted the outstanding investigative work and collaborative efforts with various partner agencies to rescue a juvenile trafcking victim with a years-long history of abuse. The investigation resulted in the conviction of a human trafcker who was sentenced to 15 years-to-life. Recognized for their efforts were BPD Sgt. Jones, Sgt. Trefz, and Det. Amos. Representatives from the ofce of State Senator Shannon Grove also presented a Certicate of Recognition to the Vice Detail for their outstanding work. Currently, the BACC is looking for short-term fosters to house dogs through next week. The BACC has 27 dogs that are considered safe and will be leaving for rescue March 8. Anyone interested in fostering can pick up a dog through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The BACC is located at 201 S.
