traf cking
This week Bakers eld Police Chief Greg Terry joined other local law
enforcement of cials to help announce the launch of CityServe's
anti-human traf cking campaign, Project Rescue.
Looking to raise awareness and help combat human traf cking,
of cials outlined resources to help victims and the community.

"I talk about it a lot that public safety is a shared responsibility. And it
is," said Chief Terry. "And it takes all of us."
As part of the campaign, 10 Golden Empire Transit buses will be
wrapped with banners with the national human traf cking hotline -
1-888-373-7888. The hotline is available 24/7. Individuals can also
text "HELP" or "INFO" to 233733 (BEFREE) or chat online.
BPD takes part in Read Across America to celebrate Dr.
Seuss
Helping celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, members of the
Bakers eld Police Department took part in Read Across America
week.
Members of BPD visited students at Crescent Elementary and Del
Rio Elementary this week, reading classic books written by Dr. Seuss.
The National Education Association aims to encourage reading and
educate people about its bene ts, especially among children and
young adults as part of the month-long campaign, highlighted by
Read Across America week.

City Manager's Of ce fellow earns national scholarship
This week a fellow currently working in the
City Manager's Of ce was announced as
one of the winners of the International
City/County Management Association's
(ICMA) Judy L. Kelsey Scholarship.
Jari Nunez joined the City of Bakers eld in
September, 2024, working in the City
Manager's Of ce, helping provide support
to City Council and each of the City's
departments.
Originally from Lamont, Nunez earned her
master of education policy and analysis
degree from Harvard University.
As part of her essay, Nunez said, “Returning to my hometown has
allowed me to channel my experiences into meaningful action. I am
deeply committed to ensuring that local government re ects and
uplifts the communities it serves.”
Splash of Color & Suds: Color Run brings fun to Silver
Creek
What better way to kick off March than with a fun- lled youth color
run?
Perfect weather set the stage as kids dashed through a course set up
by our Recreation & Parks Department at Silver Creek Park, bursting

through the colorful powder that was being thrown around. Once
they nally made their way to the nish, their white shirts had taken
on a rainbow of colors.
But the excitement didn’t end at the nish line! They capped off the
event with a bubbly bash, making for an especially sudsy Saturday.
More than 130 dogs vaccinated at low-cost drive-thru
clinic

Animal Control Field Services had a busy drive-thru dog vaccination
clinic on Saturday.
More than 130 dogs were seen at the low-cost drive-thru event held
at the Bakers eld Animal Care Center.
In total, 255 vaccines were given along with 26 microchips.
The next low-cost drive-thru dog vaccination clinic is scheduled for
April 5 at Jastro Park, 2900 Truxtun.

Traf c Advisory
Bakers eld Sports Village closed for Boots in the Park
The Bakers eld Sports Village will be closed this Friday, March 7 due
to Boots in the Park.
Boots in the Park is set to take place from 5-11 p.m. The event will
also impact traf c on Ashe Road and nearby streets beginning
around 4 p.m.
Post-event disassembly over the weekend could also impact traf c.
