A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO
SECURE A CEGP GRANT FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield wishes to apply for and receive an allocation of
funds through thc Code Enforcement (]rant Program; and
WHEREAS, the California Departmcnt of Housing and Community Dcvclopmcnt has
issued a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for thc Code Enfbrccment Grant Program
established by SB 1227 Burton (Chapter 26 of the Statues of2002), }tcalth and Safcty Codc
section 53533(a)6. Pursuant to thc statutc, HCD is authorized to approvc funding allocations for
the program, subject to the terms and conditions of thc NOFA and program application fbrms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that thc City of Bakcrsfield authorizes the
submittal of an applicalion to the California Department of }lousing and Community
Dcvelopmcnt to participatc in the Codc Enforcement Grant Program which will request a
funding allocation in an amount not to cxcecd $300,000 lbr thc purchase of capital assets
idcntificd in the application to be uscd in thc City of Bakcrsfield~ Thc application also commits
the applicant to use, support, and maintain thc capital assets acquired with grant funds for at least
thrcc years.
Thc City Manager of thc City of Bakersfield is hereby authorizcd and empowered to
cxecutc in the name of thc City of Bakersfield all necessary applications, contracts, agreement
and amendmcnts for thc purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the
purposes specificd in the application.
