I I 6 - 9 7 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COLLECTION OF ASSESSMENTS BY THE KERN COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR FOR ABATEMENT OF PUBLIC NUISANCES, DEMOLITIONS, STRUCTURES THAT HAVE BEEN SECURED AOAINST ENTRY OR FOR WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield has adopted Resolutions 84-96, 85-96, 92-96, 65-97, 84-97, 85-97 and 105-97 confirming the reports of the Building Director regarding assessments of certain properties in the City of Bakersfield for abatement of public nuisances, demolitions, or for structures that have been secured against entry; and WHEREAS, Municipal Code Chapter 8.80 requires that in the event such charges assessed and confirmed against the properties as listed in Exhibit "A" of the declaration of Gilbert Rojas, Assistant Finance Director, attached hereto, are not paid in full by June 30, 1997, the Assistant Finance Director shall cause the amount of said assessments remaining unpaid against the property to be entered and extended on the property tax roll, and pursuant to law, the County Tax Collector shall include them on the tax bill applicable to the property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield: 1. The above recitals are found to be true and correct. 2. The charges assessed and confirmed against the properties as contained in the declaration of Gilbert Rojas, Assistant Finance Director, attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference, have not been paid as of June 30, 1997. 3. The Tax Collector of the County of Kern, and such other County officers as may be required, are hereby authorized to place the above-mentioned assessments on the 1997-98 secured roll of the County and collect such assessments in the same manner as ad valorem property taxes. 4. The City Clerk shall transmit said assessments to the Assistant Finance Director with instructions to submit same to the Kern County Auditor-Controller and Tax Collector. 5. The assessments enumerated herein are not subject to the provisions of Proposition 218. ......... O00 .........
