RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT USED VEHICLES CANNOT
BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING
PROCEDURES AND AU'I'~ORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
TO DISPENSE WITH FORMAL BIDDING THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, The City of Bakersfield Police and Fire Departments are in need of
thirteen (13) used cars; and
WHEREAS, Said used vehicles will be used for replacement (10 Pohce and i Fire) and
staffing of additional positions in the Police detective division (2); and
WHEREAS, The unique characteristics involved with the purchase of used vehicles make
it impractical for normal bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, The Finance Director has determined, and has recommended that this
Council find, that said used vehicles for the Pohce and Fire Departments cannot be reasonably
obtained for one vendor because of the need to successfully integrate these vehicles into the
existing City system and inability to establish precise specifications for bidding purposes and has
recon~,~ended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding therefore in accordance with
Section 3.20.030D of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference.
2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of thirteen (13) used vehicles for the
City of Bakersfield Police and Fire Departments cannot be reasonably obtained from one vendor
because of the need to successfully integrate these vehicles into the existing City system and
authorizes the Finance Director to dispense with bidding therefore and to negotiate the purchase
of same, not to exceed two hundred twenty five thousand dollars ($225,000.00).
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on AUG 0 I ~ by
the following vote:
