A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR
THE ELECTION OF COUNCILMEMBERS TO THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE
SECOND, FIFTH AND SIXTH WARDS, HELD IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
ON THE $TH DAYS OF NOVEMBER, t996.
as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
SECTION 1.
That the City Council does hereby find, determine and declare as follows:
1. That pursuant to applicable law, a General Municipal Election was held in the
City of Bakersfield on the 5th day of November, 1996, for the purpose of electing
Councilmembers to the City Council in Wards 2, 5 and 6; and
2. Said election was held and conducted in conformity with all applicable provisions
of law; and
3. Pursuant to direction of the City Council, the County Clerk of the County of Kern
has conducted a Canvass of Results and has filed with said City Council a certificate relating
thereto which has been examined and is hereby accepted by this City Council; and
4. The City Council does hereby accept the Canvass of Results of said election
as certified by said City Clerk, attached as Exhibit "A", and does hereby resolve, determine and
declare the results of said General Municipal Election as follows:
Ward 2:
Ward 5:
Pat DeMond 4,190
Randy Rowles 8,342
Ward 6:
Jacquie Sullivan 6,141
Mark Dickerson 3,063
5. The City Clerk does hereby declare the following persons to be elected to
the Office of Council for the full four-year term, expidng November 2000:
Ward 2 - Patricia "Pat" DeMond
Ward 5 - Randall "Randy" Rowles
Ward 6 - Jacquie Sullivan
6. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by

I, Pamela A. McCarthy, Acting City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield, authorized by
Resolution No. 59-96, adopted bythe City Council on May 22, 1996, do hereby certify to the City
Council, the Certificate of County Clerk to the Result of the Canvass of the State of California
