A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN
NEW OR USED VEHICLES CANNOT BE
REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL
BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE
FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH
BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED
$135,500.00.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield Police Department is in need of six
replacement new or used vehicles for undercover use within the Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, there are unique characteristics involved with the purchase of
vehicles for undercover use; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined that the purchase of certain
undercover vehicles can be reasonably obtained on an individual basis, and
multiple bids for like vehicles cannot be obtained, and has recommended that this
Council authorize dispensing with bidding, therefore, in accordance with
Subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The Council hereby finds that it is impractical to follow the formal
bidding procedures for the purchase of six (6) vehicles for the Police Department
because of the unique characteristics involved with the purchase of undercover
vehicles.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for said vehicles shall not exceed One
Hundred Thirty Five Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($135,500.00).
