Streetscape Improvement Project.
Economic Development Director Wager
introduced Steven Smith, Lawrence Moss
and Associates, who described the
project.
Public Works Civil Engineer III
Ramming outlined the projected time-
line to begin June 16, 1997 with
completion by October 1, 1997.
Cohrs announced a recess at 4:23 p.m.
and reconvened the meeting at 4:30
p.m.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Payment of April 4, 1997 in the amount
of $490,813.60.

March 24, 1997.
Motion by Raphael and seconded by Sceales APPROVED
to adopt Consent Calendar Items a. and b. AB MILLER

REPORTS
Expansion of Convention Center
Complex.
Executive Director Tandy provided an
brief update on the Convention Center
Arena. The anticipated ground breaking
is early June 1997, with construction
completion date of October 19, 1998.

a. Opposition to AB 923 (McClintock).
Economic Development Director Wager
provided background information on
Assembly Bill 923 which abolishes
redevelopment agencies, effective
January 1, 1998.
Motion by Prince and seconded by Hall
to send a letter of opposition to AB
923 to Assembly Housing and Community
Development Members, Assembly Member
Roy Ashburn, Senator Jim Costa, and
Assembly Member Robert M. Prenter.
