Specifically, the signage was denied in the Administrative Review process because the proposal exceeded the allowable square footage. This was because the Building Department included the proposed colored design element as a part of the signage. After reviewing the proposal, the Committee made the discretionary decision that the colored design element is not a part of the signage. The Committee approved the proposal and recommends that the three signs be allowed in accordance with the Design Review Standards; on 19th Street a maximum 32 square feet of signage, on "H" Street a maximum of 90 square feet of signage, and in the alley a maximum of 24 square feet of signage. All three signs will consist of black letters. The colored design element will be maroon and yellow with black highlights, per the submitted elevations. The design elements on 19th Street and in the alley will be of a smaller scale than the element on "H" Street. The Committee recommends that the Agency also approve this application.
