HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/02/90 MINUTES RABakersfield, California, April 2, 1990 99 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Central District Development Agency of the City of Bakersfield, California, held in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, at 3:00 p.m., April 2, 1990. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Paynter. Deputy City Clerk Welty called the roll as follows: Present: Absent: Agency Members Paynter, Kronenberg, Watson, Araujo Agency Member Killmer Dunn, Rubin, CONSENT CALENDAR The following items were listed on the Calendar: Se Approval of Warrant Nos. 0250 to 0260, inclusive, in the amount of $6,072.20. b. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 20, 1990, for approval. Ce Request from Foodmaker, Inc., to change the size of the sign on the Jack In The Box Restaurant located at 2220 Chester Avenue from 2' x 15" to 5' x 5'. Consent Upon a motion by Agency Member Kronenberg, Items a, b, and c of the Consent Calendar were adopted by the following roll call vote: Agency Members Araujo, Dunn, Rubin, Watson None None Agency Member Killmer Kronenberg, Ayes: Noes: Abstain: Absent: Paynter, REPORTS Agency Member Kronenberg, Chairperson of the Design Review Committee, read Report No. 90-5 regarding application by Olson Associates to remove the existing microwave tower from the roof of the building; install a new tower with one (1) existing satellite dish and one new satellite dish at the building located at 1430 Truxtun Avenue, as follows: The Design Review Committee, on March 22, 1990, reviewed an application to make microwave tower modifications to the roof of the Bank of America Building. 100 Bakersfield, California, April 2, 1990 - Page 2 Specifically, the existing microwave tower will be removed from the roof and a new tower installed. The new tower's base is larger by two feet than the old one. One existing satellite dish will be re-installed and a second dish, 10 feet in diameter, will be added. The overall 156-foot height of the tower will remain the same. New tower and microwave dishes will be color coated or treated to match the building color. The Committee approved the application as submitted. The Committee recommends that the Agency also approve this application. Upon a motion by Agency Member Kronenberg, Design Review Committee Report No. 90-5 was accepted. Upon a motion by Agency Member Watson, the recommendations of Design Review Committee Report No. 90-5 were implemented. NEW BUSINESS Communication from Jake Wager regarding Joint CDDA/City Council Workshop held on March 21, 1990, concerning the Downtown Convention Center Hotel. Upon a motion by Agency Member Kronenberg, communication from Jake Wager was received regarding Joint CDDA/City Council Workshop held on March 21, 1990, concerning the Downtown Convention Center Hotel, a time line and point of action was adopted, and staff was directed to proceed to locate an investor/developer. AGENCY STATEMENTS Agency Member Paynter appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to consist of the Chairperson of each of the existing committees to meet with the Urban Development Committee as the need may arise. Assistant City Attorney Alan Daniel stated that this Ad Hoc Committee can only discuss what is going on among the two different Agencies. They cannot recommend or take any action. It is for discussion purposes only. Agency Member Dunn asked Economic Development Director Wager whether the Downtown Business Association (DBA) is partially funded with City funds and stated she would like to see on paper the arrangement and what their responsibilities are with the usage of those fees and how they have been spent for the last five years. Agency Member Kronenberg spoke regarding correspondence received from Economic Development Director Wager to the DBA.
