HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 135-99RESOLUTION NO. ! 3 5" 9 9 RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN NEW OR USED VEHICLES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY UNDERCOVER WORK CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $331,000. WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is in need of 17 new or used vehicles for both the Fire and Police Departments for undercover work; and WHEREAS, the unique characteristics of purchasing a variety of new or used vehicles for special use restricts availability of these vehicles, and makes it impractical for formal bidding procedures; and WHEREAS, confidentiality is vital for vehicles procured for undercover work; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director recommends the Council find said new or used vehicles, to be used for public safety undercover work, cannot be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of the restricted availability of such equipment and the need to maintain confidentiality in procuring undercover vehicles, and recommends that the Council dispense with bidding, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: The above-recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. The expenditure of funds for said new or used vehicles involved shall not exceed $331,000.
