A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF
CAUFORNIA DESIGNATION OF STATE HIGHWAY 65
FROM LINDSAY TO BAKERSFIELD AS 'THE ALL-
AMERICA CITY HIGHWAY.'
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield in 1990 was designated by the National
Civic League as an All-America City for civic spirit and volunteer efforts, and
WHEREAS, this designation is a very prestigious annual award only ten
cities nationwide receive, and
WHEREAS, the City of Lindsay and the City of Porterville over the years
have also been recognized as All-America Cities; and
WHEREAS, these three All-America Cities are linked in a contiguous
manner by Highway 65; and
WHEREAS, this designation of three adjacent cities as All-America Cities
represents a heretofore unprecedented circumstance; and
WHEREAS, this designation distinguishes these three cities as well as the
State of California in a highly prestigious manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City
of Bakersfield hereby supports the City of Lindsay's request that the State of California
designate that section of Highway 65 from Lindsay to Bakersfield as the "All-America
Highway."
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
SEP 2 ? 1995 by the following vote:
