HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 180-95RESOLUTION NO. 180-95 A RESOLUTION CAT.T.ING FOR THE ADDITXON OF AN ADVXSORY MEASURE TO BE PRESENTED TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AT THE PRIMARY MUNICIPALELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 1996. WHEREAS, the State of California Presidential Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 1996; and WHEREAS, the City Council on October 11, 1995 adopted Resolution No. 160-95 calling the Primary Municipal Election and requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern to order consolidation of said election with the State of California Presidential Primary to be held Tuesday, March 26, 1996; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 160-95 is incorporated herein in its entirety as if fully set forth herein; and WHEREAS, the City Council of Bakersfield desires to submit an Advisory Measure relating to the construction of a multi-use stadium to the voters of the City; and WHEREAS, Section 10403 of the Elections Code of the State of California provides that, whenever an election called by a city for the submission of any proposition is to be consolidated with a state-wide election, such proposition is to appear upon the same ballot as that provided for such state-wide election, and a copy with the County Chief Deputy Registrar of voters, along with a resolution requesting the setting forth of the exact form of any proposition, as it is to appear on the ballot. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. That the following Advisory Measure be presented to the electors within the City of Bakersfield at the Tuesday, March 26, 1996 Primary Municipal Election: ADVTSOR~ I~E&SURE Shall the City of Bakersfield construct a multi- Yes use facility near the Convention Center downtown with a cost of no more that $14 million without increasing taxes or assessments. Sources of funding may include about $2.5 million in contributions, $4.5 million from future benefits of increased local government revenue, and a No maximum loan of $7.5 million secured by a user fee, which will be adjusted to guarantee the loan? 2. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the Election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. 3. That notice of the time and place of holding the Election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the Election, in time, form and manner as required by law. 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions. .......... o0o .......... - 2 - !
