A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DIRECTING THE PUBLIC WORKS
DIRECTOR TO CONSTRUCT CURBS, GUTTERS AND
SIDEWALKS ALONG PORTIONS OF GARNSEY AVENUE,
GARNSEY LANE, REAL ROAD, SAN MARINO DRIVE AND
PHAFFLE STREET, CONFIRMING THE ASSESSMENTS AND
AUTHORIZING COLLECTION OF THE ASSESSMENTS BY
THE KERN COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR.
WHEREAS, the City is proposing to construct storm drain
facilities, including storm drain lines, catch basins, manholes,
and cross gutters, in the areas of Garnsey Avenue, Garnsey Lane,
San Marino Drive and Phaffle Street; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with these improvements the City
Engineer has offered to install curb, gutter and sidewalk adjacent
to individual properties for a set unit price to improve street
drainage and upgrade individual properties in these areas; and
WHEREAS, several property owners within the area (set forth on
Exhibit "A", 5 pages) have indicated that they wish to have the
City install curb and gutter or curb, gutter and sidewalk adjacent
to their properties and have indicated that they wish to pay for
these improvements through their property taxes over the next two
years,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and are
incorporated herein.
2. The Public Works Director is directed to install said
curbs, gutters and sidewalks as aforesaid.
3. The City Council hereby confirms and approves the
individual assessments for curb, gutter and sidewalk set forth in
Exhibit "A".
4. The Public Works Director is hereby directed to file
assessments with the Kern County Tax Collector to be collected in
two equal payments over the next two fiscal years and the Kern
County Tax Collector is hereby authorized to collect such
assessments.
