RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE
CONSERVATION BOARD TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE
ADOPTED KERN RIVER PARKWAY.
WHEREAS, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the California
Department of Fish and Game support the City's acquisition of property along the adopted
Kern River Parkway; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the funds used to purchase said property will be provided
by the California Wildlife Conservation Board Real Property Acquisition Grant, in the
amount of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000), for the purpose of wildlife habitat
preservation, restoration and management, wildlife-oriented education and research, and
for compatible public uses, all as may be consistent with wildlife habitat preservation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield does hereby resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That it approves the California Wildlife Conservation Board Real Property
Acquisition Grant Agreement;
SECTION 2.
That it authorizes the Mayor to execute the Grant Agreement on behalf of the City
and all other documents necessary to qualify the City for the acceptance of the grant.
