AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15.41.030 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO SEISMIC
SAFETY ANALYSES OF UNREINFORCED MASONRY
BUILDINGS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that Section 15.41.030
of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1.
15.41.030 Mandatory Requirements.
A. Each owner, as shown on the latest equalized assessment roll of the County
of Kern, of an unreinforced masonry building shall undertake structural alterations of said
building in accordance with Chapter 15.40 by December 31, 1998.
B. If said owner fails to comply with the provisions as required by this Chapter
by December 31, 1998, then the subject building shall be declared a "non-conforming URM
structure."
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with provisions of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its
passage.
