AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO RESOLUTION NO. 108-99
SETTING SALARIES AND RELATED BENEFITS
FOR OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE GENERAL
SUPERVISORY, POLICE SUPERVISORY AND
MANAGEMENT UNITS AND ADOPTING SALARY
SCHEDULE AND RELATED BENEFITS.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 108-99 sets salaries and related benefits for
employees of the Management Unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
that effective the beginning of the first full pay period following Council action, the Salary
Schedule, a part of Resolution No. 108-99, is hereby amended as follows:
1. Resolution No. 108-99 is hereby amended by deleting the following
class titles from the Management Unit:

Under general direction, acts for the City Attorney in his/her absence; performs civil and criminal
legal work in representing the City and providing advice and counsel to City staff, Boards and
Commissions; conducts legal research and drafts legal documents; performs related work as
required.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of all positions in the class. They
are descriptive, not limiting.
Essential Dutie~
Assists the City Attorney in planning, organizing and managing the operations of the City Attorney's
Office; supervises professional and clerical staff by allocating and coordinating legal service activity
within the department; assists in the selection of department personnel; assists in the preparation of
department budget; acts for the City Attorney in his/her absence; acts as legal advisor to assigned
City departments concerning their respective duties, powers, functions and obligations; researches
legal issues, statutory and case law, and drafts and reviews opinions, ordinances, resolutions,
contracts, leases, permits and other legal documents; supervises and may conduct prosecution for
violations of City or state laws under the jurisdiction of the City; represents the City in court cases
encompassing a variety of subject matter, including performing all phases of pretrial, trial and
appellate work; represents the City in administrative hearings before City Boards and Commissions
and state and federal agencies; prosecutes litigation where City is plaintiff; assists other attorneys
in all phases of legal work; attends meetings oftbe City Council, Boards and Commissions in the
absence of the City Attorney, or as requested by the City Attorney; recommends selection of
consultants; monitors and prepares comments on proposed federal and state legislation and
regulation; answers correspondence and public inquiries on legal matters related to City business;
