A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD REGARDING CHANGING THE NAME OF
THE CENTRAL DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT AGENCY.
WHEREAS, in 1972, the City Council established the Downtown Redevelopment
Project Area and the City Council acted as the redevelopment agency; and
WHEREAS, in subsequent years, the Downtown Redevelopment Project Area was
expanded; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, the City Council ceased to be the redevelopment agency and
found there was a need for an independent body to act as the redevelopment agency; and
WHEREAS, that independent body was named the Central District Development
Agency; and
WHEREAS, on June 30, 1999, the City Council established two more
redevelopment project areas which are not located in the downtown/central district of
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, each City can only have one redevelopment agency; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to change the name of the redevelopment
agency so that it engenders all of the redevelopment project areas, not just the Downtown
Redevelopment Project Area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct;
The "Central District Development Agency" shall now be called "The
Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency";

The Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency shall amend its by-laws to reflect its
new name and shall take all steps required by the State of California to effect
the name change.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on NOV 0 3 1999, by the
