RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
FUNDS FOR THE FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM AS
PROVIDED THROUGH THE CALIFORNIA TREES FOR THE
MILLENNIUM INITIATIVE FUNDED THROUGH THE
FOREST RESOURCE IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR
REPLACEMENT OF TREES IN CITY PARKS.
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California, in cooperation with the
California State Legislature, has enacted the California Trees for the Millennium Initiative
for 1999 which provides funds to the State of California and its political subdivisions for
urban forestry programs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has been
delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program with the State, setting up
necessary procedures governing application by local agencies and non-profit organizations
under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Department of Forestry and
Fire Protection require the applicant to certify, by resolution, the approval of application
before submission of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of California
to carry out a tree planting grant program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, incorporating the above recitals herein,
by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
That the filing of an application for the "TREES FOR THE MILLENNIUM" tree
planting grant program by the City of Bakersfield Recreation and Parks
Department is approved; and
That the City of Bakersfield has, or will have, sufficient funds to operate and
maintain the project; and
3. That the City of Bakersfield has funds available to begin the project; and
That the City of Bakersfield will expend grant funds prior to January 31,
2002; and

That the City of Bakersfield City Manager or his/her designee is the agent of
the City of Bakersfield to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all
documents including, but not limited to, applications, agreements,
amendments, payment requests, and so on, which may be necessary for the
completion of the aforementioned project.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
