A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MINOR LEAGUE
BASEBALL FRANCHISE IN BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield community has supported a professional baseball
franchise since 1941; and
WHEREAS, professional baseball, and the Bakersfield Dodgers, have contributed
to positive community morale; and
WHEREAS, a minor league baseball franchise in Bakersfield is an asset to the
area's economy, generating tourism, sales tax and transient occupancy tax; and
WHEREAS, the Player Development Contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers has
expired; and
WHEREAS, the current baseball facility used by the Bakersfield Dodgers no
longer meets the standards of major league baseball.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The City of Bakersfield will work together with the County of Kern, Castle
& Cooke Development and the Bakersfield Dodger organization to help keep the minor
league baseball franchise in Bakersfield; and
2. Each organization will contribute $20,000 toward a consultant to put
together a financial plan and prospectus under which a new facility could be built.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by
the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
