RESOLUTION SUPPORTING MERCY CHARITIES
HOUSING CALIFORNIA'S AFFORDABLE HOUSING
PROJECT WITHIN THE SOUTHEAST BAKERSFIELD
METROPOLITAN AREA.
WHEREAS, there is a shortage in the City of Bakersfield (the "City") of
decent, safe and sanitary housing, particularly of housing affordable to low income
persons; and
WHEREAS, Mercy Charities Housing California has developed and is
currently developing elderly/disabled, special needs, and family housing throughout
California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Bakersfield adopted the Comprehensive
Housing Affordability Strategy (CHAS) on December 1, 1993, which identified the
need to increase the supply of standard, affordable housing for large families,
elderly and persons with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to provide incentives to stimulate the
construction of affordable housing within the Bakersfield Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, Mercy Charities Housing has expressed a desire to develop
affordable multi-family housing units in the Southeast Bakersfield Metropolitan
Area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the officers and employees of the City are
hereby authorized and directed, jointly and severally, to do any and all things
necessary or advisable in order to effectuate the purpose of this resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield, hereby supports Mercy Charities Housing California's efforts and
mission to provide quality, affordable housing to low income persons in the
Southeast Bakersfield Metropolitan Area.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by
the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
