A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ROSEDALE
HIGHWAY ALIGNMENT OF THE ROUTE 58
ADOPTION STUDY.
RECITALS
WHEREAS, the Rosedale Highway Alignment of the Route 58 Adoption
Study traverses areas in the City of Bakersfield north of Rosedale Highway generally
between Calloway Drive and Coffee Road known as "Rosedale" and north of Rosedale
Highway west of Freeway 99; and
WHEREAS, a number of residents of the Rosedale area have voiced their
opposition to the City and to State of California, Department of Transportation concerning
the proposed Rosedale Highway Alignment; and
WHEREAS, said proposed Rosedale Highway Alignment bisects portions of
Rosedale; and
WHEREAS, construction of the proposed alignment will significantly and
negatively impact the flow of traffic on major transportation corridors in the City of
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Transportation has
indicated they will discontinue further consideration of the Rosedale Highway Alignment
due to public opposition;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The Council agrees with the residents of Rosedale and opposes the
Rosedale Highway Alignment of the Route 58 Adoption Study.
3. The Council applauds the indication by the State of California
Department of Transportation to discontinue further consideration of the Rosedale Highway
Alignment and encourages the State to take the necessary action to eliminate this alternate
from the Route Adoption Study.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
