HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 62-96 (1) RESOLUTION NO. 6 2 ' 9 6~") A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN OBSOLETE CITY RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, INSTRUMENTS, BOOKS AND PAPERS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 45090 ET SEQ. OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA (POLICE DEPARTMENT) WHEREAS, a request has been made by the Police Department for authority to destroy certain obsolete City records, in accordance with their retention schedule which has been amended and is attached as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, such records are more than five (5) years old at a minimum; and WHEREAS, said request has been approved by the City Attorney and is in accordance with the procedures and requirements of State law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. That the above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference; 2. Sex/Narcotics/Arson Registrants EXHIBIT "A" POLICE DEPARTMENT RETENTION SCHEDULE PAGE 2 All records, documents, instrumems, books and papers not mentioned in Sections II through VII shall be retained a minimum of two years. Duplicates of all reports may be destroyed at any time when the duplicates are no longer needed. Any of the above may be retained for a longer period if circumstances so warrant. S. E.
