A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE WORK
OF THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED.
WHEREAS, this City Council recognizes and supports the efforts and contributions
of the developmentally disabled throughout our community; and
WHEREAS, there exists within the City of Bakersfield organizations, such as the
Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens (BARC), which promote work for our
developmentally disabled citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield currently contracts for the services of disabled
persons at the City's greenwaste facility on Mount Vernon Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The City Council hereby recommits itself to support the efforts and
contributions of the developmentally disabled.
2. The City Council encourages City staff to use the services of the
developmentally disabled, whenever feasible, through volunteerwork or, where appropriate
and legally permissible, by way of contract.
3. The City Council also encourages private industry to use the services of the
developmentally disabled, whenever feasible.
