HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 134-93 .1 34- 93 RESOLU~XON N'O, RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT USED CARS CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT TO EXCEED $62,500.00. WHEREAS, the Police Department needs five (5) replacement vehicles; and WHEREAS, used vehicles are less expensive than new ones and are suitable for the needs of this department; and WHEREAS, the unique characteristics of used cars make it impractical for normal bidding procedures; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined, and has recommended that this Council find, that used cars for the Police Department can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor and has recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding therefor in accordance with Section 3.20.060 D of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: The Council hereby finds that used cars for the Police Department can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of the necessity to successfully integrate these vehicles into the City system and authorizes the Finance Director to dispense with bidding therefor and to negotiate the purchase of same, not to exceed $62,500.00. ........... ooo ..........
