A RESOLUTIO~ SUPPORTING THE HOUSING
AUTHORITY OF T~ COUNT~ OF KE~N'S
FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAm.
WHEREAS, the Council supports the development of strong,
viable communities for all persons regardless of income; and
WHEREAS, the potential for home ownership can be enhanced
by education and training in the fundamentals of purchasing and
maintaining a home and involvement in neighborhood concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the County of Kern
(HACK) has submitted an application to the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Family Self-Sufficiency
Program under Section 554 of the Cranston-Gonzalez Housing Act
(Public Law 101-625); and
WHEREAS, the Family Self-Sufficiency Program provides
home ownership opportunities to low income tenants; and
WI~w&~AS, on August 28, 1992, the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development awarded a grant to the Housing
Authority of the County of Kern under the Family Self-Sufficiency
Program; and
WH~/~EAS, the Council supports home ownership as a means
of creating stable communities of family households with an
investment in the well being of those communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL¥~u that the Council of the
City of Bakersfield hereby supports the Housing Authority of the
County of Kern's Family Self-Sufficiency Program to promoting
individual home ownership in this All American City.
