A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ON THE DEATH OF
CESAR CHAVEZ.
1927 - 1993
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez, was a caring leader and
dedicated server and his loss is deeply felt by many; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez focused his heart and mind on the
daily labor of the farmworker; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez worked with people from all walks
of life and all parts of the world to peaceably resolve issues;
and
WHEREAS, his dedication, compassion, and commitment
will continue to be reflected in the great number of lives he
touched;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the members of the
City Council of Bakersfield note with deep regret the death of
Cesar Chavez and extend to members of his family their sincere
condolences; and
THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in respect to
the memory of Cesar Chavez the proceedings of this Council will
again be halted for a moment of silence.
