HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 38-93RESOLUTION NO. ~ ~ ' 9 ~ A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CLOSURE OF "N" STREET BETWEEN 9TH STREET AND 10TH STREET TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC DURING REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS. WHEREAS, Section 21102 of the California Vehicle Code provides that local authorities may close that portion of any street that crosses any school grounds when in the opinion of the legislative body such closure is necessary for the protection of persons attending such school; and WHEREAS, "N" Street between 9th Street and 10th Street divides the Rafer Johnson Elementary School campus; and WHEREAS, when school is in session, students at Rafer Johnson Elementary School must cross "N" Street at various points between 9th Street and 10th Street in order to get to classes; and WHEREAS, traffic on "N" Street between 9th Street and 10th Street when school is in session creates a safety hazard for the students of Rafer Johnson Elementary School; and WHEREAS, closure of 10th Street at certain hours persons attending school. "N" Street between 9th Street and is necessary for the protection of NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: "N" Street, between 9th Street and 10th Street, shall be closed to vehicular traffic during regular school hours while school is in session. .......... o0o ..........
